Hello Newport Families!

My name is Jenny Erickson and I would like to welcome you to an exciting new school year at Stratton Elementary. The Stratton staff and entire Newport School District family is working together to provide a Strong, Kind, and Committed team of dedicated educators to support your child and to provide the best possible educational program.

This school year marks the beginning of my fifth year as the Principal at Stratton Elementary. Before coming to the Newport School District, my professional career included serving elementary students as a classroom teacher. I obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Education and a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Eastern Washington University. I began my teaching career in my home town of Chewelah, and then continued to teach in the Deer Park School District. While teaching in Deer Park I worked to obtain my Principal Certification through Gonzaga University. Although I truly enjoyed each of the twenty-two years I spent in the classroom, I feel fortunate to be able to continue a child-centered approach from the administration standpoint and to have  the opportunity to work with the dedicated staff at Stratton Elementary.

I have missed our Super Stratton Students over the summer! I am excited to meet new students and welcome new families to the Newport community. Through a close partnership with staff members and parents at Stratton Elementary, I am confident that we can make our school a place where our students will continue to learn and grow. Please feel free to stop in and say hello, as my door is always open. I would like to wish you a smooth start to an exciting new year here at Stratton Elementary.
